This was a great novel. It made me laugh & cry. I saw myself and others and it helped me to look at things in a whole different light. It made me evalute my own walk with Christ. I think Mr. Lawrence Cherry should make it known that parts 2,3 & 4 are not continuations, but the novel broken into three parts. I always try to purchase the sequels before starting a book so that I may just go to the next, so this revelation was greatly disappointing and a waste of money. Now I have the book twice. But a definate great read.Product details

Commencement edition by Lawrence Cherry Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
College graduates should not assume that employment comes immediately and the main character in Commencement by Lawrence Cherry finds this out the hard way. After graduating from a prestigious university, Allen Sharpe believes he has it made until reality kicks in...
Allen believes he has learned everything there is to know about financing, making him six-figure employee material for any consultant firm. When Allen starts hitting the pavement for employment, he quickly realizes things are different. As Allen continues to look for work, spend time with his friends, and try to avoid depression, he begins to build a stronger relationship with God. Allen starts to open his eyes as well as his friends to lessons they never could have imagined.
Commencement is about life's lessons and to acknowledging that life is not easy. I appreciate the author's allowing the main character go through a series of life changing experiences. I also appreciate the different issues Allen's friend's face in their jobs and their ways of dealing with them. This book would have been a good read had it not been drawn out, which made it hard to relate to any of the characters. It was also hard to pick up on the true message from the book but it did incorporate some invaluable lessons readers may see present in their work environment.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It reminded me that God is Always in control , no matter what. The characters had a way of drawing you in while the story line kept you wanting to know what was going to happen next. An excellent read!
